LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL

November: Citizenship, Gratitude & Attendance

November is a great time to focus on Citizenship and what it means to be a good citizen. Citizenship starts with the little things we do every day, such as showing respect, helping others, following expectations, and taking responsibility for our actions. When we practice good citizenship, we make our school a better place to learn, our community a better place to live, and our country a better place for everyone. We are proud of the way our Tigers continue to demonstrate these qualities each day!
As we approach Thanksgiving, it is also a wonderful time to reflect on the importance of being grateful. Gratitude is about recognizing and appreciating the people, opportunities, and blessings in our lives. We want our students to understand that being thankful isn't just something we do during the holiday season. It is something we can practice every day through our words and actions. A simple thank you, a kind gesture, or taking time to recognize someone who has helped us can make a big difference. We are thankful for our students, families, and staff who make Ringgold Elementary such a special place!
We also want to take a moment to celebrate how well our students are doing with attendance! Being at school every day makes a tremendous difference in student learning, friendships, and overall success. Thank you for making attendance a priority and helping us keep that momentum going. We also appreciate your continued efforts to provide doctor's notes when your child has to be absent. These notes help us properly document absences and ensure our attendance records are accurate.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for everything you do to help make Ringgold Elementary such a special place. We hope your family has a wonderful Thanksgiving season filled with time together, gratitude, and plenty of reasons to be thankful!
Every Tiger, Every Day, Without Exception!

Music Notes with Mrs. Roach

3rd Grade has been learning to find, count and play songs in different meters. I am so proud of their learning to sing and play instruments from reading the music notation. In November and December we will begin studying the notes on the treble clef staff and playing xylophones.
4th Grade is finishing a large unit on the history of the Star Spangled Banner and how poetry relates to music. The recorders are on back order and we anxiously await their arrival to begin learning to play them!
5th Grade is completing our Ukulele unit and we have learned to play chords C, F, G7, Am and Fm which opens up a tremendous amount of songs we can now play!
Now, all classes are preparing to head to RHS theater to watch our chorus performance of the December musical "North Pole Musical!" Please look for permission slips to come home soon so students will be able to attend the concert Monday, December 7 at 12:00 PM.
Have a great November!

Media Center Matters with Mrs. Coney

November is National Family Literacy Month! We have two big events planned to celebrate reading literacy: an author's visit with Matt Eicheldinger and our annual Read-a-Thon.

Mr. Eicheldinger will visit us on Wednesday, November 4th. Interested students may find his books at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target.

Our Read-a-Thon officially kicks off on November 9th!

Thank you for your ongoing support of the media center. We are building a legacy: One story. One idea. One lasting impact.

P.E. with Mrs. G

Ringgold Elementary students are going to have a blast this month with our annual Kids Heart Challenge service project!  KHC is a national fundraising event created by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.  The jump-roping event encourages elementary students to join other students nationwide to fight heart disease and stroke.  The children will be learning about community service and will become engaged in learning more about how to care for their bodies and establish heart-healthy lifestyles at a young age.  RES set a goal to raise $5,000!  We are excited and looking forward to celebrating as we meet this goal!  Thanks for all you do to make this event a success.

Full STEAM Ahead with Mrs. Nepp

Thank you to all the families that came out to our STEAM Night. This was our first year combining with RPS and (I think) it was a huge success. I loved hearing all the laughter, seeing all the smiles and meeting SOOO many parents and grandparents.

We had 4th and 5th graders participating in the Catoosa County Conservation District Poster Contest in Oct. Several from our school placed in the county. The winners are:

1st place:    Kinslee Fuentes
2nd place:   Anna Templeton
3rd place:   Caroline Garrett
Honorable Mention:     Lizzy Matthews
                                    Lucie Scoggins
                                    Eleanor Mahaffey
Congratulations to these girls! Thank you for representing RES so well. Kinslee's poster will move on to the state competition.

Our Tech Club is wrapping up their projects. Some will compete in a school competition on Nov. 4th to see who will advance to the county competition in Dec.

Classes will resume with 3rd graders finishing up our unit on cyber safety.
Our 4th graders will continue learning about wolves and how a species affects an entire ecosystem.
Last but not least, 5th graders will wrap up the constructive and deconstructive forces of nature unit.

The holidays are fast approaching so hang on tight. I hope everyone enjoys time with loved ones.
